The replacement was presented by the Armenians and hostile states as a massacre and genocide against Armenians, and a massive propaganda campaign was launched against the Ottomans.

Genocide is the crime of annihilation of human groups because of racial, national, ethnic and religious differences. It can be perpetrated only directly by a Government or under its consent. In order to prevent the crime of genocide in the world, the United Nations General Assembly voted in 1948 the Genocide Convention, to which Turkey adhered in 1950.

The mention of genocide reminds the massive massacres perpetrated by Nazis against Jews and other ethnic groups In World War II. In this period lasting from 1939 to 1945 six million Jews, more than three millions of Soviet prisoners of war, more than one million Polish and Yugoslav civilians, about 200.000 Gypsies and 70.000 disabled persons were murdered. This is genocide in the true sense of the word.

The crime of genocide was committed in the above cases in its most blatant form. Contrary to the Armenian pretensions, the measures adopted regarding the Armenians in Eastern Anatolia was merely a replacement in another region within the Empire for security reasons and had nothing to do with genocide.

It is true that there were Armenian losses during the war and the replacement operation but they were actually due to the failure of establishment of order because of the war and the revolts in Eastern Anatolia., together with hunger, lack of food and fuel, adverse climatic conditions and epidemics such as typhus. There was no genocide or a planned massacre whatsoever.

It is a fact that the Armenians were subjected to many similar replacements in the past for treason against the states under whose hegemonies they were living. the Sasanites moved 70.000 Armenians to Iran in 379 AD, the Byzantines relocated 40.000 East Anatolian Armenians in Sivas and Kayseri in 1025, the Mameluks sent 10.000 to Egypt, the Iranians dispersed 24.000 into the country and the Russians invading Crimea sent thousands of Armenians into the Siberian steppes.

Without mentioning any of these preceding replacements and exiles, the Armenians strive to make a genocide issue out of their replacement undertaken in 1915 for undeniably sound reasons by the Ottoman State. This attitude is the product of policies designed to break apart the integrity of Turkey. The most obvious evidence of this phenomenon lies in the fact that the Western powers, oblivious to the true genocide events in Africa, the Balkans and several other parts of the world, lend support to the claims of genocide against Armenians.

Many country in the world accepted that Armenian Genocide is real..But that countries never see that many real GENOCIDES happened in world...Everybody thinks we hate Armenians but they dont see that we still have Armenian churchs, schools and people in our country..And they live as normal as a Turkish people here...But in Armenia it is not like that...But the world which is really KOSHER never see that..

At least for me i dont hate Armenians...But i dont feel ok when people talk about my country and past as we were a killer..If people are really nice and kind-hearted and just wanna make peace then why do they always mention about so-called armenian genocide?..Thats what i cant really understand..We think we are right and armenians think they are right but consequently we can still live with armenians in our country in peace.. And we dont have any problem about it... We try to not mention about this event...This is not cause of we are guilty, this is cause of we dont wanna argue...But when people try to mention it we cant stay and do nothing...

If people really wanna make peace, they gotta show it...Past is past...We all cant say sth exactly true about it...Cause we werent there...If some of your think "but i know someone who were there so i can talk" i cant accept it too cause all armenians and turks have someone were there...If we didnt see it with our own eyes we shouldnt talk about that all the time with blame people...Cause if people keep on blaming some p eople then that would means that they dont really wanna make peace, they just wanna show themselves right with pull out all the pathetic shops...

PEACE IN THE WORLD...

MasterMind, dear, i am not armenian. I am uruguayan, and very pround of it And you can say ''but you have armenian blood'' yes, i have, but as you can see on my profile, i am more spanish than armenian, and i also have blood from other places. And i am a latino of 16 years old, I am not guilty about poverty or hunger.

The topic of this entry is "do you know what a genocide is" and I just put a video of the person who invended the termin "genocide" recognicing the armenian genocide as a genocide. So according to the dictionaries, it WAS a genocide.

So countinue with you bla bla bla and waste more words.

People talk, Santiago. I wonder if you know the saying "One who has a mouth speaks."

Even Obama will admit it, if he has to please the Armenian population in America. People like you, who only depends on what random people write or say about the matter, without any true reference, will also of course speak this way all the time..Continue to listen to SOAD and such dude, they're dedicated historians you know.

You know, your favourite book, the source of Armenian thesis "The Blue Book" had also been re-described as a tool of Armenian propaganda by its own writer, Arnold Toynbee. As we know he was a British agent sent to Anatolia at Ottoman times to gather information about the two nations..He admitted in the past that, he wrote the book just to realize British policies in the area..Good news right?

For your information, you Armenians living outside of Armenia are constantly letting those Armenians struggle with poverty and hunger with your point of view.

Also, if you'd like to read a verified document one day, read this: if you want verification, just go to the last pages.

No compensation, no land for a crime that never existed, just created by a poor nation.

Get used to it.

Am I the one who don't knwo what genocide means, or actually you are the person who don't know?

We are waiting for Armenians to discuss this matter . We will never fight . They know this but why are they afraid ? They are afraid of turning out to be in the wrong :S Come on Armenians come to this subject and we shall discuss without fight and abuse .

Alright, not sure why I'm doing this, but I did some research...

I won't use the term genocide, that's a misleading label. However, it is true that the Ottoman government believed Armenians to be disruptful (possibly some truth there) and passed a law which allowed the government to forcefully expel them from the country and take their belongings. For many Armenians, it was difficult losing home and belongings, and having to relocate to Armenia. The Armenians were able to win some territory from the Ottomans at the end of the war and the dissolution of the empire, and grow in size. However, when Ataturk started the movement toward a free and independent Turkey, he went back on many of the post-war treaties and attacked Armenia, taking much of the land back. Soon thereafter, the government of Armenia collapsed as it was conquered by Russia. Around the end of the Cold War, Armenia won its independance and is now a sovereign nation.

However, the continuing tension between Armenians and Turks comes from an issue of national pride, with both countries giving their spin on the story and propagandizing their citizens giving a distorted view of the real events.

Yes, it is true that the Ottomans did kill many Armenians and cause many economic hardships for them, this is a past event. The continuation of the issue is, again, due to both governments being unwilling to "back down" and let the other "win;" leading to both spewing propaganda against the other side.

Also, in response to one of the other comments, yes, Americans did mistreat the American Indians...severly (and yes, I am American). However, it is slightly different because there is no American Indian nation to create propaganda against us, leaving the issue relatively unknown.

In the end, both of these events are far in the past, and I would be willing to be real money that no one hear had any significant part in these events.

The moral of the story is, do not succumb to the distortion of information presented by either the Turkish or Armenian governments, there was a conflict in the past, but it is exactly that. Take solice in the fact that you are smarter than those who don't realize that, or perhaps you can even teach them this.

P.S. This is not an attack against either government or nation, the U.S., like every other nation in the world, presents pro-American propaganda to its people, and American people are just as likely to act the same way were we in the same situation, and I can guarantee that for almost any nation.

Dear Irem, the reason why they behave that way is fairly simple : its the same with classical European mind that promoted heavy crowds from all over the Europe to gather in Vienna and celebrate the 300th anniversary of the failed Vienna siege of Ottoman Empire : "The traditional hatred against the Turkish". The Turkish dominance in Europe continued for hundreds of years and it caused this matter to be scraped within their subconsciences, leaving deep wounds. And now you're witnessing its indicators : like a European writer had written "If you take the Turks off the history then there will be no history".

Turkish hatred is the only factor that holds the Europe in one piece, since Christianity can't do the same that effectively, for the last few centuries.
