Annoying Proverbs

Annoying proverbs are the kind that are repeated with such frequency that many of us visibly wince whenever we hear them. Part of this, perhaps, is that most of them have an "I told you so" quality about them, sort of a pointless triteness.

The collection is listed in alphabetical order by first word, with a few over-used metaphors thrown in for to add to the nausea.

Well, maybe for you as a native speaker these are "annoying"… Talking with foreigners in English you'll rarely hear something like this. Moreover, our English teachers find learning provers very useful (from the grammar point of view).

But "There's no use crying over the spilt milk" – I've heard kind of 1000 times alreadyLaughing

By the way, have you ever watched the movie "Amelie" – I guess, there was a conversation between two women (they were talking about men of course Wink) and one of them said that man, who knows proverbs can't be a bad man Laughing
