THE LAST SAMURAI.

The perfect blossom is a rare thing, you can spend your life looking for one, and it would not be a wasted life.

And then I come to this place Of my ancestors, and I remember, like these blossoms , we are all dying.

To know life in every breath, every cup of tea , every life we take, the way of the warrior, life in every breath,  that is BUSHIDO.

You believe a man can change his destiny?

I think a man does what he can until until his destiny is revealed to him.

I belong to the warrior in whom the old ways have join the new.

And so the days of the Samurai had ended, nations like man, it is sometimes said, have their own destiny. As for the American captain no one knows what became of him.

Some say that he died of his wounds…others that he returned to his own country, but I like to think he may have  at least found, some small measure of peace, that we all seek and few of us… ever found.

Wow… that is one (if not the greatest) of the best parlaments in the movie. And if you remember that at the end, when Ken Watanabe is dying, and he looks at the perfect blossom, you are definitively moved.

I am from Perú, that´s in South America, but I´ve always admired and respected the japanese culture (but the good part, forget about the crazy japanese side), you know, honor, order, aim to perfection, hard work, respect and all of the great values they have.

And of course, you`ve got to like the japanese warrior style, samurai or ninja alike, those guys have great costumes, their martial arts are so stylish and so efective at the same time.

I would say this movie is one of my favourites, without a doubt. Ken Watanabe`s superb acting deserves two very strong thumbs up.

I agree with Elrafa.
all japaneese people are respectful and i like that.this movie it has a meaning ful scene that we saw it in many years ago and we can see it today in many country…..

i beleive that betrayal is a element that dosnt seprate from politic, ofcourse japoneese people is good but we can see this betrayal in many countrys history.the last part is so awakening.
its nice all goverment respect their warriors when theyare alive not after their death…

we can see betrayal in diffrent aspect of life but the worst one is….betray to the country….
if s.one see this movie he or she cant forget it easily.me myself cant forget it especially the last part when he wants to kill himself(Haraghiry)...

joel thanks for this topic.

Allowed me to quote one more time that fabulous line from the film…

“To know life in every breath, every cup of tea, every life we take …the way of the warrior…THAT IS BUSHIDO.

I love the film – great story, great music, great costumes. And on top of all, it has meaning, a deeper message: about honor, aim for perfection, thinking for yourself instead of blindly following others … I can watch this film again and again and never get bored.

And thanks for the quotes – In my opinion some of the best parts of the film.

In my opinion the director of "Chicago" did an exeptional job in "memoirs of a geisha". Beautifull film. Outstanding photography!
