I’d like to know the pronunciation of the word “says” like in “He says no” . As far as I know the pronunciation of ‘says” is s[e]z {the [e] sound as in the word “bet’ or ‘met’.} Or do you think the pronunciation should be s[eI]z {here the dipthong [ei] represents the sound as in the words ‘train’, ‘brain’ etc.}. Also I found a website on the internet which gives the phonetic transcription of any English words and the link to that is

http://easypronunciation.com/en/english-phonetic-transcription-converter#result  Phonetics.

According to this particular website the phonetics transcription of the sentence “He says no” is hiː ˈseɪz ˈnoʊ. But I don’t think the transcription of ‘says’ is

seɪz. But I think instead it should be “sez”. What is your take on it?

Best regards,

Abhishek

I agree with you. The pronunciation is “sez” as in bet or met.
