John: Hey, Steph, do you have any, uh, hints on how to achieve goals?
Steph: Hints. Well, I guess one of the best hints I could give you is to create a goal. That’s the first thing that I do.
John: Well I have a goal. I want to learn how to play the guitar. But it’s a, it seems like a really hard thing to do. So, how do you think I could get myself to do it?
Steph: Well, if you really want to learn how to play guitar, first you should probably make a list of things that you need, like, um, a teacher or the time to dedicate to learning that thing.
John: Yeah. The time thing is what I’m scared about. Yeah. I wonder how much time it’s gonna take. But I think I need to do stuff, like reminders. Like maybe some notes around the house or something that remind me to practice. Something to keep me focused.
Steph: Reminders are good, or little treats after you’ve done the things that you have set out to do.
John: I think it’s also good to block off a certain amount of time once a week or once a day. And say, you know, every day from 4 to 5, I’m gonna practice. And that way it becomes part of the system.
That’s true. Yeah. Just give yourself ten minutes a day and it’s not that much time. I mean, you probably spend that much time on your hair and then just do it and then have some chocolate.

That was a really good idea to put reminders all over your house or apartment of the things you need to get done.
I find that it helps to have lists.
Another thing that is quite helpful is to imagine yourself accomplishing that goal and the satisfaction you will feel at that point.
Good luck!
