Do you know what a Frappuccino is? The word Frappuccino is a combination of frappe and cappuccino. A frappe is like a milkshake. A cappuccino is espresso with milk. Put those together and you have a delicious, sweet beverage: the Frappuccino. If you have been to Starbucks, you probably do know what a Frappuccino is.
Starbucks didn’t create the recipe. But they have made many different kinds of unique and original flavors! Don’t be under the impression that a Frappuccino is just coffee, milk, and sugar. Oh, no! Starbucks has Java Chip, Peppermint Mocha, Strawberries and Cream, and most recently: the Unicorn flavor. The unicorn flavor is a medley of neon swirls and sweet things.
Andy can’t wait to try the Unicorn flavor Frappuccino. Dominique thinks it is poison. Listen as they discuss in today’s English lesson.

Andy_H: Yo, Dominique. I just used an internet app, ordered a Unicorn Frappuccino, and it’s going to be here in about five minutes. Are you jealous?
Dominique: A unicorn what?
Andy_H: It’s a Unicorn Frappuccino. It’s the coolest drink you could imagine. It’s essentially the it thing right now. It’s a medley of wonderful rainbow swirls all in a taste sensation that says unicorn.
Dominique: OK, so first I would have to be under the impression that unicorns do exist. So, I’m just going to have to try to believe that they do. And now, I’m going to have to… I mean, what is a unicorn and what do they taste like?
Andy_H: Uh… Well, I, um… They taste like… sugar? Honestly, I have no idea! I’m ordering it so that I can find out! You’re unimpressed.
Dominique: Yeah, I’m very unimpressed. I mean, I’ve never seen one before. Is it like the blood of a child? The sweat of a kid? What is it?
Andy_H: I mean, I’m sure it’s not that extreme. I know it’s got neon swirls. And… sprinkles! Rainbow sprinkles!
Dominique: Poison! And poison on top of poison… I mean, diabetes and stuff. OK.
Andy_H: I’m very quickly regretting my decision.
Dominique: Yeah. You should.
Andy_H: OK, it sounds kind of frivolous now to drink this thing.
Dominique: I have some water.
Andy_H: I think I’m going to stick with that.
Dominique: You should.
Andy_H: OK.

Discussion
Andy used an internet app to order a Unicorn Frappuccino and asks if Dominique is jealous. He explains what it is. It is essentially the new trendy thing. It is a medley of rainbow swirls all in a taste sensation that says unicorn. Dominique doesn’t believe in unicorns, first of all. But now, she has to imagine what a unicorn tastes like?
Andy guesses they taste like… sugar? He ordered a Unicorn Frappuccino to find out. Dominique seems unimpressed. She asks if the Frappuccino is made from the blood or sweat of a child? She doesn’t know what it could be made of. Andy knows it is not that extreme. He knows it has swirls and neon colors. Dominique calls it all poison. Andy regrets his decision.
Would you try the Unicorn Frappuccino? Do you think it sounds delicious or disgusting?
