Migs and Tanis have seen Charlie’s Angels recently. They’re talking about the special effects. Even though it’s mostly action the makers of the movie aren’t trying to take it too seriously. Zach wants to know if it’s more comedy or action. Also, all of them wonder if the movie studios are going to continue to remake old TV series.

Migs: Well, the special effects are cool. The totally, like… they spoof, it’s kinda like

Matrix and stuff. The way that they… it’s… you can tell that they’re doing it and it looks cool, but they’re not taking it totally seriously and that, like, makes it even better.

Zach: So, is it supposed to be, like action or is it comedy. I mean, is it like a parody of those kind of shows.

Tanis: I think it’s, it’s, I mean it is an action film. But at the same time they know that it’s like a cheesy subject. So they are, like reveling in the cheesiness of the movie. So it’s kind of fun. It’s just a good time.

Migs: The plot is horrible. I mean it’s like so obvious.

Tanis: But, it’s intended to be, you know.

Migs: That was my only disappointment was that if they would’ve… if the plot was, like, just a little bit more intriguing then it would be like really good.

But, it’s just like, the plot you don’t even really care one bit what the plot is, ‘cause it’s just so stupid.

Tanis: Yeah, it is.

Migs: I mean it’s just typical of, like, an action movie.

Zach: So, like when are they going to, I mean, are they going to stop making… remaking shows at some point. Like, I mean are they going to start remaking shows like

e and stuff.

Tanis: Let’s hope not. I am excommunicating myself from American pop-culture if they make

Small Wonder into a movie. That is possibly the worst television show in the history of American TV.

Zach is interested in knowing more about the movie Charlie’s Angels and Tanis and Migs have already seen it. Both of them had similar thoughts about the movie. The conversation in this lesson is very natural. It may be difficult to understand, because people are thinking while they’re talking. Pay attention though, because this is the kind of conversation you need to be able to understand. I thought Charlie’s Angels was a fun movie. The special effects were incredible and the Angels are beautiful. Cameron Diaz is amazing! So, I give it a 8 out of 10. From the front row, Migs
