John:  I saw a good movie this weekend.

Nedra:  What’d you see?

John:  It’s called Black Hawk Down. You heard of it?

Nedra:  Yeah. It’s, ah, one of those war movies isn’t it?

John:  Yeah, It’s about that mission the Americans made to Somalia[/def] in ‘93, I think.

Nedra:  Yeah, I bet it’s pretty nasty, ah, people dying left and right, blood and guts everywhere. You know, I just don’t think I would like to see that.

John:  Well, the story is actually really good. It’s interesting to see, especially with the conflict that’s going on now in Afghanistan[/def], but yeah, it was really gory. There were a lot of scenes that made me feel really queasy, and I kind of wanted to run out of the theatre.

Nedra:  Yeah, I’d have continual nightmares if I’d seen that movie, so I’ll just take your recommendation and and just kind of steer clear of it!

Discussion

The movie is based on a real story back in 1993. A team of soliders plan a surprise attack on a meeting of Somali warlords. Four Black Hawk helicopters drop four teams into the area around the building where the meeting is held. Right after they hit the ground, the soliders plan goes wrong and they are attacked from all sides.
Sounds like a hard story to stomach. John mentioned later after our conversation that there were some pretty intense scenes that were really hard to sit through like watching a soldier trying to stop someone from bleeding to death.
Have you seen any good movies lately? What is your favorite movie of all time? Come share it with us at the Movie Madness message board.
Until next week,
Nedra
