Brett:   So, did you end up renting a movie the other night?

Tanis:   Yes, but I’m so embarrassed. I don’t want to tell you which one!

Brett:   Come on, what did you see?

Tanis:   Um, The Fast and the Furious.

Brett:   Oh, man. That movie…well, I don’t want to prejudice anybody’s opinion. What did you think of it?

Tanis:   Well seriously, we rented it because we wanted to have a movie that we would laugh at, and that took itself seriously but was really stupid. That was, like, our whole idea. But I got sucked into it. I loved it!

Brett:   So I haven’t actually even spoken to anybody who’s seen this movie. It, is it about…I mean all I see is the previews where it has, you know, some big, burly guy driving fast cars around. What else is it about?

Tanis:   It’s like, this guy lives his life a quarter mile at a time. But, um, it’s like, about street racing, the underground world of street racing, and like, some, like, really supped-up, crazy cars. Like, it’s so funny….

Brett:   I mean, it sounds, I don’t know, it sounds kind of cheesy. But you actually enjoyed it?

Tanis:   Well, you’re not too far off. The thing is, it really is sort of, like, exciting a little bit. Or, you can get kind of caught up in it, but there are times where you’re just laughing and rolling your eyes. But we had the DVD, so we got to, like, go and check out all the….

Brett:   You’ve kind of got me sold on this movie. I think I’m going to end up renting it myself.

Tanis:   Oh, yeah. Everyone should rent The Fast and the Furious.

Discussion

While this movie is not necessarily a dramatic masterpiece, it certainly sounds entertaining. Some great chase scenes featuring tough-guy actors driving their hot rods will be sure to give you an adrenaline fix. A good date movie? Maybe not. But for those of you who just want to hear the roar of a V-8, this is the picture for you!
