English, baby! to host games in Beijing

Portland, Ore. - August 5, 2008

English, baby! (Ebaby!), a Portland-based social network teaching conversational English through American pop culture, has sent a team of local workers to hold its own alternative games on the the streets of Beijing during the Olympics.

Among those travelling to the games is marketing manager Jewel Lin, who moved to Portland six years ago from Taiwan and recently completed her MBA at the University of Portland. The trip marks her first visit to mainland China.

According to a statement, the company's visit to China represents more than an opportunity for a 2:00am running/tricycle/spelling triathlon.

"We're also going to profile a few of our members as examples of the global English movement," said co-founder and CEO John Hayden.

Peng Handan, a 24-year-old graduate student in anthropology and long-time Ebaby! member, will take the group on a tour of various aspects of youth culture in Beijing, starting with her dorm complex. They also plan to visit members in nearby villages to witness traditional Chinese life, and will partake in a member-led tour of Beijing nightlife.

More than a quarter of Ebaby!'s 800,000 members are from China. To learn more, visit www.Englishbaby.com.
