In the 70s the Australian government had aboriginal children removed from their families to have them raised by white foster parents. Many of these children got mistreated due to their origins, felt displaced and eventually got some mental issues. (Yes, I know! Germany did something similar to blonde and blue-eyed Polish children in WWII and the results were more or less the same – including the mistreatment of children!) Anyway it was now decided that Australia would pay 75.000 Australian dollars to each of these aboriginal children. My source is the newspaper ‘GEA’.

The German newspaper ‘Agrarheute’ says that as off 2025 farmers in New Zealand will have to pay taxes (about 16,00 dollars/t CO2) if they profit financially from keeping cows, sheep and goats. These animals produce a lot of CO2 and since New Zealand wants to reduce its CO2-production this idea makes sense.

This week the German radio Station ‘Deutschlandfunk’ talked about two News that were good News for mother nature:
>There now are concrete plans to build some kind of breeding station for endangered rhinos in a fenced in area near Adelaide in Australia. Unlike ‘ordinary’ breeding stations however this one is just going to be some kind of safari-park where the rhinos are going to live freely. As rhinos don’t breed very fast and cautions are taken to make sure they won’t escape they say that there is no way for these rhinos to do any harm whatsoever to native species.
>The second news however are about something that happened miles away from Australia. About a decade ago the Kokaral-dam was built to stop the loss of water in the Aral-Lake. Now it’s evident that this plan was a success. The water level was raised again and aquatic animals returned to the lake. Chances are that in a few years former seaports once more will meet the shores of the lake.

In one of their latest episodes the German TV-show ‘SONNENSEITE’ warns about things many people make go down the drain even though they shouldn’t. Please note that some of these things were mentioned due to current incidents in which people and/ or animals were hurt or at least a lot of material damage was done:
Don’t pour noodles down the drain as they absorb water and turn into a clog in your drain pipes. Also rice – even boiled rice – contains a sort of bacteria that is harmful to plants.
Small pieces of egg shells often stick together and cause a clog in your drain pipe.
When poured down the drain milk absorbs the oxygen from the water. This already caused a mass dying of fish in a lake somewhere in Great Britain.
If you bake things yourself, you may know that water and flour become a very sticky mass and thus flour never should go down the drain. The same goes for coffee ground for the same reasons.
Palm oil, most other sorts of oil, fat (for example from meat) and salad dressings (especially those containing sugar) stick with the inside of your drain pipe and clog it. Even worse is that some of these oils and fats can get stuck with other sorts of waste in the drain pipes. The clog isn’t even the biggest problem with this, but for example in Australia there already were cases where this mass of oil and other things made its way to the ocean, to shores and to beaches. This highly toxic mush then killed turtles, fowls and also domestic animals like dogs and cats that just wanted to taste a small piece to see if it was edible. Also small children became ill after just touching this thing and not washing their hands properly afterwards.
Medicine may dissolve in your gastric accid, but that doesn’t mean it will dissolve in any fluid. Thus medicine never should go down the drain due to all the chemicals it contains.
Other things mentioned were hair, small pieces of stickers, latex, water-absorbing material like sponge, cigars.
